Violaceae - Violet Family


Viola canadensis (Canada Violet/Canada White Violet)

This flower grows to 10 inches tall.  The flowers are white, 3/4" to 1" wide, with 5 petals that are white inside and purple-veined near the base.  The base is the flower is yellow.  The leaves are 2 to 4", heart-shaped, and finely toothed.

This plant grows well in wildflower gardens if planted in a cool spot.

This plant is found in the woods where it flowers from May to July.
