This is a shrub, either erect and bushy or high climbing by aerial roots. Leaves of three. It has a hairy stem.
Poison Ivy is poisonous to the skin, causing severe dermatitis for most people. A natural treatment for Poison Ivy exposure that works well is to rub the affected area with the crushed leaves and stems of Jewelweed (Impatiens capensis or Impatiens pallida). The common garden Snapdragon, which is related to Jewelweed, will also work as a treatment if used in the same way.
Flowers in May to July. It is considered abundant. It can be found in multiple habitats including thickets and along fences.
